The goal of this research is to find and summarize the characteristics of the language of Evil observable in the works of Stephen King (Carrie, Hearts in Atlantis, Bag of Bones and many others). The utterances of the antagonists (human and non-human beasts) of King's fictional universe share common features, forming a special system, a separate language. The goal of this research is to point out the pluricentric characteristics of this language, furthermore to describe the translatological and transcultural nature of its verbal and non-verbal elements. Stephen King often uses a special (consciously damaged) form of English language in he speech-acts of his negative characters, which is an interesting area for research with a special focus on these utterances in Hungarian translation.
